Simplifi or Obfuscate?
Griffin’s Simplifi is an iPhone/iPod dock with a built-in memory card reader and 2 powered USB ports. It’s on sale for about 50% off right now at 34.99. I have one. It’s pretty good.
While they’re on sale right now, and people seem to gush over them, I think it’s important to point out that the device is hardly flawless. My Simplifi has issues remaining connected, causing my SD card and the iPhone to unmount, with an amazingly touchy USB connection. As in I’ve touched the unit and connected drives and iPhone have instantly dropped connection from my Mac. My docked iPhone just mounted and unmounted about 10 times (firing off the vibrate-on-docking behaviour you get upon plugging in while on silent mode), and, oh yes, crashed twice, all while I’ve been typing this. And yet other days it performs admirably. So consider this a cautionary tale, kids.
